Description

Eventually I will be adding another "Feed Page" to the website called the "Workbench" where users will be able to make posts in a similar style as the "Builds feed" but instead for posting testing, comparisons, custom-made tools, ect... Until then I am posting this here.

I compiled all this info to create an easy-to-understand table of the differences between all the discontinued and new FrSky Transmitters.

I think that FrSky is the best Transmitter ecosystem for Airplanes and I also use it for my FPV and Quadcopter builds and absolutely love it.

If you get a FrSky transmitter I highly recommend the x20RS for $635.  It has all of the features you really need without paying the premium for the Aluminum and carbon fiber construction of the Pro and Pro AW.

If you were to spend the same amount of money for a Spektrum transmitter, which is what most beginners purchase, you would have to spend $950 to get something comparable to the x20RS. All of the FrSky Tandem TX have a touch screen, but with Spektrum you have to get an iX 14+ before you get a touch screen.

Also the HUGE selling point for FrSky for me is the Tandem Technology. If you go look at RC Forums you will see countless stories of Spektrum users who crash an airplane due to signal loss. With FrSky's Tandem system you are constantly broadcasting 2.4ghz and 900MHz, so if you lose signal with 2.4ghz, which is increasingly more common with all the RF interference, the 900mhz signal seamlessly switches and takes over preventing a crash.

A lot of new pilots chose to get Spektrum as a lot of planes are Spektrum BNF which agreeably is a great way to start. However, with the addition of the IrangerX IRX4 module for $40 you can fly all Spektrum BNF models with no issue. If you want to check that out, see the Video below for a quick and easy install.

This is obviously my opinion, but in my experience, FrSky is a great option to choose if you are looking to get into flying RC Airplanes. You can pick up an X18 for $280, which is an amazing price for what you get.
