Description

This is my Top Flite Giant Scale Corsair. This plane started as a brand new ARF that I decided to strip of all the monocoat and glass with Ziroli 1 oz cloth and West Systems 205/105 epoxy resin. The process was long, as this was the first plane I had ever glassed, but the time spent was well worth it for the scale detail I wanted.

For paint, I used Tamiya AS aircraft paint followed by SprayMax 2X clear coat. The plane is powered by a DLE55 RA engine, and I also fitted a Bowman piston ring and a Valley View genuine Walbro carburetor, which improved its powerband. For exhaust, I'm using a KS ABF bendable header, which you can purchase from Desert Aircraft.

This plane is equipped with a 24 oz Valley View fuel tank, providing 8-10 minutes of run time. For the receiver/gyro system, I'm using a Spektrum AR20410T with a Synapse gyro system, which offers ultra-stable and smooth flight characteristics. The plane is mostly equipped with AGFRC HV servos in all surfaces, except the elevators, which are fitted with Savox 1270TGs.

In total, this plane has four batteries: two 3500 mAh Gens Ace packs for the receiver, one 2500 mAh Gens Ace pack for the engine's ignition, and finally a 1300 mAh 3S for the plane's onboard EME autostarter. I chose to add the autostarter since it enhances the scale factor by allowing the plane to be started remotely, and it also provides some useful nose weight. The total weight of the plane is 28 lbs.

It was a pleasure to fly for the first time, and it's one of, if not my favorite, planes in the hanger.
